Springfield Transit

Springfield’s bus system “The Bus” is run by City Utilities of Springfield (yes that’s right folks the same people that provide Gas, Electric and Water services also provide transit services.) They are the last utility in the nation that still runs the transit system.

Rules of the Springfield Transit Bus System

All busses and Para transit buses have full color video cameras with sound so behave yourself.

No shirt, no shoes, no ride, no exceptions.

No smoking on the bus or at the Park Central transfer facility.

No alcohol. If you are intoxicated will be denied a ride on the bus. The only alcohol that can be brought aboard the bus are 6 and 12 packs of beer.

No foul language. Not only is it against our policy, it is also against the law.

No car batteries or filled gas cans are allowed on the bus. New unopened gas cans may be brought on board.

Oversized baby strollers are to be taken to the back of the bus also the driver WILL NOT help with loading it on the bus. If it is too big for the bus, the driver will ask you to fold it. If you refuse you will be denied a ride on the bus.

Oversized items such as flat screen TV’s and desktop computers are not allowed on the bus.

Only service animals are allowed on the bus.

Transfer Policy

If you’ll need to transfer, be sure to ask for a transfer slip as you board. A transfer for all passengers is $0.10. Remember only one transfer per trip. The rest of the fare structure beginning October 1, 2009 is outlined below.

Cash Fares:

For each continuous ride from point of embarkation to point of debarkation, each passenger shall pay a fare as follows:
Beginning October 1st, 2009
Adults – $1.25
Elderly & Disabled – $0.60
Youth – $1.00
Children (with adult) – no charge
Para transit Service – $2.50

Transfer Fares:

Transfers will be issued to any discount card or cash fare passenger if such transfer is requested by the passenger at the time of punching the discount card or payment of the cash fare required under the foregoing schedule of fares:

Beginning October 1st, 2009
Single Use – $0.10
All Day Two Additional Fares – ($0.60 times 2 = $1.80)

Discount Cards:

For a discount card which entitles each card holder to multiple rides on regular route service buses, each patron shall pay the following:

Beginning October 1st, 2009
Adults (30 rides) – $27.00
Adults (60 rides) – $45.00
Elderly Disabled (30 rides) – $13.50
Elderly & Disabled (60 rides) – $22.50
Youth (30 rides) – $20.00
Youth (60 rides) – $30.00
Para transit Service (30 rides) – $54.00
Para transit Service (60 rides) – $90.00

31 – Day Pass:

For a 31 – day monthly pass which entitles each pass holder to unlimited rides on regular route service buses during a 31 – day period, each patron shall pay the following:

Beginning October 1st, 2009
Adult – $45.00
Elderly and Disabled – $22.50
Youth – $30.00
